Senior Network Engineer

1. Analyze requirements and specifications from customer; notify project manager of missing information, outstanding questions, technical challenges, concerns, etc.
2. Design a solution that meets customer's needs and integrates with their existing networks using hardware provided by carrier.
3. Program Cisco or ADTRAN routers, switches, firewalls to implement solutions.
4. Coordinate and remotely manage installation of equipment and test/turn up/porting of carrier provided services.
5. Troubleshoot systems and support customer as needed to complete project.
6. Proactively update project manager as to status and next steps.  Escalate problems to the point of resolution.
7. Use tracking system to document all aspects of every project to enable coworker collaboration, hand off, and historical reference.
8. Track your time with precision as you work.

• Self-motivation and comfort working independently when appropriate
• Two years experience in a customer-facing technical support or engineering role.
• CCNP or equivalent experience is preferred.  ADTRAN certifications are a plus.
• Strong applied knowledge of IP network fundamentals and best practices for implementation on copper and fiber networks.
• Experience implementing dynamic routing with BGP, IGRP, OSPF, and RIP.  Experience with Cisco proprietary protocols such as EIGRP, HSRP, GLBP would be nice.
• Strong applied knowledge of and experience programming QoS, NAT, access lists, firewalls and VPNs for common applications.
• Strong understanding of switching principles and Cisco implementations of Layer 2 protocols including, Ethernet, HDLC, PPP, Frame Relay, STP, 802.1Q, Etherchannel.
• Outstanding English technical-writing, documentation, and communication skills.
