Subversion
Version control is the art and science of managing changes to information. Subversion is a free, Open Source version control system designed to track changes to groups of files and directories over time. Subversion's primary mission is to enable collaborative editing and sharing of data. Such systems have long been a critical tool of programmers, but Subversion's usefulness reaches far beyond the realm of software engineering. Special AI first discovered Subversion because our R&D team needed a replacement for CVS, which was then the de facto standard version control system. Our need for something new stemmed from the same problems that led Subversion's developers to create it in the first place. Still, CVS had served us and our customers well for years, and many of them were uncomfortable replacing such a critical piece of the development environment. To encourage our customers to embrace the change to Subversion, we created a training program to soothe management concerns and help users adjust. Since then, Special AI has evolved a full complement of Subversion training and support services into stand-alone offerings. Subversion Training
Special AI offers three levels of Subversion User training (Contributor, Developer, Super User) and one Server Admin program. Each level of User training builds on the one below it. The Server Admin program is separate, intended for non-users who are responsible for maintaining a Subversion server. Training is typically done classroom style on your premises. The duration of training varies from half-day to two days depending on the course(s) chosen. Sessions are intended for up to ten users, and all courses include: -
Instructor-led Power Point presentation with functional demonstrations -
Exercises for students to practice on their laptops -
Personalized as needed and time allows -
Quick-reference sheet of Subversion commands
